She is being bred to TC Moniets Legacy, a black Thee Minstril son for a 2012 foal. We wish him the best and look forward to foaling out this mare so we can see this cross ourselves – dynamic beauty in black!
Posted in News | Leave a commentSitting in the back seat of a F350 listening to the dull whine of the diesel engine I glance out at the evening sun. I am on hour 27 of our trip to begin Majik South in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We began yesterday at 3pm from our driveway in Montana with eagerness to get on the road. Merlin Hochstetler, Matt Wilson, & I started the journey and had 850 miles till we would add a fourth person to our entourage. That fourth person would be Micah Tucker sent as the ambassador of Majik South to help drive. We navigated Denver International Airport with horse trailer and all. Dodging the 9 ft 8in clearance we headed to the drop off ticketing location. Convincing the Police man that Micah was on his way out and not to kick us out of the drop off area we made our connection.Traveling across Kansas and away from the sunset with happy horses who have fresh hay and water. We continue our conversation of how these horses will be taken into the performance arena and in what disciplines they will be trained in. More to come on Majik South as our journey continues.

President Obama signed the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010 into law Sept. 27, the American Horse Council (AHC) reported Sept. 28. The bill is intended to help small businesses and create new jobs. The bill continues the bigger write-off for horses and other property purchased and placed in service by a horse business that were originally included in earlier stimulus bills.
According to the AHC, the first incentive allows an owner who purchases a horse or other business property used in a horse business and places it in service in 2010 or 2011 to expense up to $500,000 of the cost. This so-called “Section 179” expensing allowance applies to horses, farm equipment, and most other depreciable property. Once total purchases of horses and other eligible property reach $2 million, the expense allowance goes down one dollar for each dollar spent over $2 million. Without the bill the expensing allowance would have been $250,000 in 2010 and gone down to $25,000 for later years.
“Let’s assume a horse business purchases $750,000 of depreciable property in 2010, including $650,000 for horses, and places it all in service. That business can write off $500,000 on its 2010 tax return and depreciate the balance,” explained AHC president Jay Hickey.
This provision will benefit any business involved in the horse industry that purchases and places depreciable property in service in 2010 or 2011, according to the AHC.
“The tax benefits in this bill are great for any horse business that has or is planning on making major purchases,” said Hickey. “The expensing and bonus depreciation provisions can be used together in 2010. For example, let’s assume an owner pays $1 million for a colt to be used for racing and $100,000 for other depreciable property, bringing total purchases to $1.1 million in 2010. If the colt had never been raced or used for any other purpose before the purchase and is placed into service, the owner would be able to expense $500,000, deduct another $300,000 of bonus depreciation (50% of the $600,000 remaining balance), and take regular depreciation on the $300,000 balance.
Posted in News | Leave a commentCongratulations to Oates Hargett! (yes, his name is ‘Oats’ and he has horses) on the purchase of his 2ND horse from Majik Arabians. Two years ago he purchased Shadow Majik, a 2 year old gelding started under saddle. They got along so well that he returned this fall to purchase another. This time he took home Cinco de Majik (Born 5-5-05) for another special companion. Return clients tell us that our program is successful.
Posted in News | Leave a commentHeaded for the final day of the US Arabian Horse Nationals 2010. Champions have worn roses while other talented and beautiful horses “got the gate” but they were all Champions at one time. That’s what makes the Nationals so exciting! The final class of the evening will be the Park Championship between 3 undefeated stallions. And of course the dramatic beauty of the halter stallions awaits us…

We have been blessed by the summer-long visit of Micah Tucker of Oklahoma. We shared the wonder of riding Arabians in the Rocky Mountains, he shared his natural talent for working with horses. At 6’3”, Micah thought the Arabian was just not for him. But most of the men in our family are 6’ and over: size and substance are essential here. Size drew him in, but their temperament and athleticism won Micah over, and we are thrilled to now have him part of Majik Arabians.
Posted in News | Leave a commentWe welcome Dave Bruder to the Majik family! In recent months he has purchased several mares and breedings from us. His first purchase was Dancing Majik (Bey Tshah Majik/GG Jabask daughter) who is in foal to Majik of Marwan.
After a heart-taking ride through the Sapphire Mountains on Pier Magic, another Bey Tshah Majik daughter, Dave decided to purchase her with a breeding to Majik of Marwan. Bey Tshah Majik, along with Marhaabah, was also selected to cross onto some of his foundation mares of Captive Winds Arabians. Ahhh! He has been captured by the magic of our first ‘Majik’ man, Bey Tshah Majik. We are excited about the future foals these breedings represent.
