Listed in the National Foundation Quarter Horse
Association this double registered Quarter Horse/Paint
Stallion
is an exciting addition to the stallions we offer. We are able to offer you a
'Palomino/Buckskin Guarantee' on bay, chestnut/sorrel mares because
of his genetics. Ghost had one Palomino parent and one
Buckskin parent in which he inherited the dilution gene from
both sides making him a Perlino which is a double dilute
buckskin. He
genetically carries a double dilute factor which means that he
has to pass on a dilution gene. The dilution gene
gives you a Palomino when added onto a red basecoat (chestnut)
and a buckskin when added on to a bay base coat (black
basecoat with an additional gene that represses the black to
the points of the coat). This means that if your foal
would have been chestnut, when crossed on Ghost, he will be
Palomino. If he/she would have been bay, he will now be
Buckskin. Unfortunately, if your
mare is grey and if she passes on the greying gene, it will override
the basecoat of any color and you will eventually end up with
a grey horse. That is why we can't make this guarantee
with a grey although you could still get a Palomino or
Buckskin if your grey mare is not homozygous for the grey gene.
On registered Quarter Horses you get a registered Quarter
Horse foal. You can use him on Paint, Quarter Horse, and Thoroughbred
mares and get a papered APHA foal. On Arabians you get
the exciting golden colored registered Half-Arabian or Quarab. He is safe
to use on Overo mares, you will not get a lethal white foal.
The exciting thing about a perlino/cremello is that you will always
get a single or double dilute colored foal. He will always
produce palominos, buckskins, or smoky blacks (blacks who
carry the dilution gene). The exciting thing about Ghost
is that he is also classy !
Ghost has
the cutest set of tippy ears, a triangular, breedy head, and a
beautiful thick mane and tail. We wanted this in our
outcross stallion so as not to loose the beauty already inherent
in the Arabian. We also wanted agility and athleticism so we
chose an individual with correct structure and a pedigree full of both in the foundation breeding of the
Quarter Horse. His sire's pedigree
includes three AQHA Supreme Champions earning their points in Hunter, Halter,
Reining, Roping, and AAA Speed Index's. His dam, full
sister to the dam of Idaho Chariot Racing Champion, is by Two
Fox Rookie, a son of the great Two Eyed Fox, winner of the
Superior Halter Award as well as a many time Champion in Performance.
If you don't have a bay/chestnut mare to
breed to him you may lease one of ours.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any
questions on the probability of the coat color of your foal
when crossing your mare on Ghost.

We are thrilled with this cross from
Ghost on our Arabian mare. She has the beauty and style
of an Arabian and the catty, athletic ability of the Quarter
Horse! Yes, she made this turn so smooth I almost did even see
it. |
